A swing reach truck stores and retrieves full pallets in very narrow aisle racking without turning the entire truck. It uses a mini-mast that rotates to place loads on either side of the aisle while the truck travels straight through. This makes swing reach trucks ideal for high-density warehouses focused on maximizing pallet capacity within an existing building footprint. Storage density may increase by 25% to 50%, depending on the original aisle width.

A standard reach truck extends its forks forward into a rack bay and requires a wider aisle in which to maneuver. A swing reach truck has a rotating mast that serves both sides of the aisle without repositioning the truck, allowing it to operate in significantly narrower aisles.

By narrowing aisle widths, Raymond swing reach trucks can substantially increase pallet capacity within the same warehouse footprint compared with conventional lift truck configurations. Pairing them with other storage solutions may provide even greater density.

Raymond Swing-Reach® trucks typically operate in aisles as narrow as 66 to 72 inches. These aisles may be approximately 60% narrower than those required by standard reach trucks. Because the mast swings to access rack locations on either side, the truck does not require turning space within the aisle.

The Raymond 9600 Swing-Reach turret truck reaches heights of up to 394 inches. The Raymond 9700 turret truck reaches 514 inches and beyond, while the Raymond 9800 Swing-Reach truck extends to 584 inches and higher. For demanding very narrow aisle and high-bay applications, the Raymond Transtacker TRT reaches elevations of up to 708 inches, or 59 feet.

Raymond swing reach trucks are wire-guided, following an embedded wire in the floor to navigate very narrow aisles with precision. Wire guidance reduces the operator's steering workload, helps limit damage to products and racking, and supports integration with Zoning and Positioning and the In-Aisle Detection System.

Very narrow aisle solutions benefit high-SKU, high-volume operations that need to maximize storage within a fixed building footprint. Common applications include wholesale food distribution, third-party logistics warehousing, e-commerce fulfillment, grocery distribution, and manufacturing facilities with large parts inventories.

The In-Aisle Detection System detects objects in the truck's path and brings the truck to a controlled stop. Zoning and Positioning automates key order-picking functions so operators can focus more closely on picking accuracy rather than truck positioning.
